Gregory T. Blamoh is a seasoned humanitarian aid worker and development practitioner with over 30 years of experience across Africa and Asia. His extensive background in emergency response management, development programming, and resource mobilization has seen him serve in mid-level and senior managerial roles with several international organizations. From coordinating critical interventions during crises to leading complex development projects, Gregory has demonstrated a consistent commitment to humanitarian excellence and strategic leadership.
Throughout his career, Gregory has made significant contributions in some of the world’s most challenging humanitarian contexts. During the Liberian civil war, he successfully managed a cross-border food distribution operation from Côte d’Ivoire into northern Liberia. He later played a crucial role in managing a field office in Aceh Province, Indonesia, during the 2005 Asian tsunami—a disaster that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives. His leadership also enabled him to mobilize over twenty million U.S. dollars for Plan International’s operations in Liberia, enhancing support for children and communities across the country.
Before entering the humanitarian sector, Gregory was a dedicated educator, teaching junior secondary school students in Monrovia while pursuing his university education. Many of his former students have gone on to become impactful citizens contributing to Liberia’s development. Outside of his professional life, Gregory is a passionate reader with a personal library of novels, biographies, and memoirs. He is also an avid follower of international news and a devoted dog lover, currently caring for eleven dogs at his residence.
Since January 2022, Gregory has served as the Secretary General of the Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS). Under his leadership, the Society has experienced a remarkable operational transformation. Notable achievements include the attraction of new funding from diverse partners, the solarization of the LNRCS headquarters and eight chapters, business support to 13 of 15 chapters, securing the Government of Liberia’s annual subvention, and implementing robust internal controls and annual audits. He also oversaw two successful General Assemblies, including the December 2024 assembly that ushered in new national leadership, cementing his role as a transformational figure in Liberia’s humanitarian landscape.
The Liberia National Red Cross Society is the single largest national humanitarian organization in Liberia. It is a Voluntary Humanitarian Organization and an auxiliary to the public authorities and the Government, delivering services to the most vulnerable in emergency, including disasters, conflict, civil strife, ill-health and contextual social issues. The Liberian Red Cross is represented in each of the fifteen counties by a chapter and in the districts by a branch, from which we are able to reach regional and remote communities.
