In every corner of Liberia — from the coastal counties to the remotest districts — the Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) stands as a pillar of hope, compassion, and service. With a dedicated network of 1,785 trained volunteers embedded in 92 districts across all 15 counties, the Red Cross is not only present — it is active, responsive, and transformative.
Whether it’s delivering health awareness campaigns, promoting hygiene, cleaning communities, or training local people in First Aid, LNRCS operates at the heart of communities. In recent years, the Red Cross has expanded its reach to support disaster preparedness and response, offer climate change adaptation programs, assist local farmers, and provide life-saving water and sanitation services by building and repairing hand pumps. These efforts are not just services — they are lifelines for Liberia’s most vulnerable.
“We work in key sectors including Disaster and Crisis Response, Health and Care, Climate and Environment, and Values, Power, and Inclusion,” says an LNRCS spokesperson. “Every intervention is designed to protect dignity and promote resilience.”
The Red Cross has provided critical support to flood and storm victims, fire survivors, orphans, and incarcerated women — always guided by its fundamental principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence. Volunteers serve regardless of religion, tribe, or background, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the Red Cross.
Liberia’s growing humanitarian challenges — worsened by climate change, coastal erosion, and recurrent bushfires — call for urgent, sustained responses. In response, the LNRCS has launched a bold five-year Strategic Plan with two central pillars: Humanitarian Service Provision and Organizational Development. This vision not only addresses current needs in health, disaster risk management, and protection but also builds internal strength through resource mobilization and financial sustainability.

“Our mission is clear: to transform today’s challenges into tomorrow’s opportunities,” the spokesperson said. “With strong partnerships and the generosity of our donors, we are building a safer, healthier, and more resilient Liberia.”
The Liberian Red Cross is on the ground — not just as responders, but as trusted partners in every community. Ready and prepared to act, we are committed to alleviating human suffering, saving lives, offering hope, and restoring dignity where it’s needed most. Whether responding to disasters, empowering local volunteers, or delivering critical health services, the Red Cross stands as a symbol of compassion, resilience, and unity. In the face of growing challenges, our resolve remains unshaken — to serve humanity, uphold dignity, and build a brighter, safer future for all Liberians.
