PEER-TO-PEER EXCHANGE MEETING OF ACTIVE NATIONAL IHL COMMITTEES

November 27, 2019

We are sharing experiences to promote best practices toward formulating a stronger and consolidated national approach in IHL implementation and pushing forward IHL priorities in West Africa. Representatives from the National International Humanitarian Law Committee (NIHLC) of Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, and Sierra Leone are being hosted by Liberia on a two-day Peer-to-Peer exchange meeting. We organized the meeting along with the Liberia IHL Committee with support from the ICRC Liberia Office. The meeting is discussing the mandate and Function, Composition, establishment and structure, resources and Working Procedure of the NIHLC among other meaningful themes.

About Us

The Liberia National Red Cross Society is the single largest national humanitarian organization in Liberia. It is a Voluntary Humanitarian Organization and an auxiliary to the public authorities and the Government, delivering services to the most vulnerable in emergency, including disasters, conflict, civil strife, ill-health and contextual social issues. The Liberian Red Cross is represented in each of the fifteen counties by a chapter and in the districts by a branch, from which we are able to reach regional and remote communities.
