The Liberia National Red Cross Society has donated food and essential nonfood items to the Monrovia Central Prison as part of its dedication to addressing the basic needs of communities facing challenges.
The donation on December 8, 2023, comprising 50 bags of rice, two sets of pots, ten gallons of oil, and 26 packs of toothpaste, is intended to provide relief and comfort to the individuals within the Monrovia Central Prison.
The Liberian Red Cross sees this initiative as a privilege and an expression of solidarity with those within the facility, underscoring the Red Cross’s unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on communities in need.
The LNRCS Secretary General Gregory T. Blamoh expressed the Red Cross’s belief in the transformative power of compassion. “Through this donation, we aim to improve the overall well-being of the inmates and create an environment that fosters resilience and compassion,” Mr. Blamoh stated.
The Red Cross’s donation marks a significant step in its ongoing commitment to humanitarian aid by extending a helping hand to the Monrovia Central Prison.

This generous gesture is not a standalone effort but is intended to serve as an inspiration for further collaborative initiatives. The Liberian Red Cross encourages ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the organization and the Monrovia Central Prison, as well as other stakeholders. The objective is to foster resilience, compassion, and positive change within society.
“As we take this step today, we envision a future where the principles of humanity and solidarity prevail,” Mr. Blamoh added. “Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need.”
The Liberian Red Cross expresses gratitude to the administration and inmates of Monrovia Central Prison for their cooperation and openness to collaborative efforts. The LNRCS looks forward to continued collaboration and the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of communities in need.
